Blues, cool and crisp. Buttery yellows, warm andcozy. Chocolates, just delicious. Frame these colorswith soft ivory and you have Amelia’s Blues.Inspired by the life of Amelia Bloomer, 1818-1894,I've chosen fabrics from my collection of antiquequilts for the prints in this collection. Amelia wasa suffragist, a social activist, and the editor of thetemperance newspaper, The Lily. Her interest in thereform of women’s clothing led to her promotingthe Rational Dress Movement during theVictorian Era. She especially advocated thewearing of a form of pants called pantaloons,as being sensible and practical under ashort dress. Women accepted the idea ofwearing pantaloons, mostly in the form ofundergarments, and whileAmelia did not invent thepantaloons, the nicknamebloomers was adopted

Circa 1840-1890 this 19th century group is sure to delight reproduction quilters, vintage textile enthusiasts, and anyone who just loves beautiful fabric.
