Description

ennessee Volunteer State Block 15 - The state of Tennessee was named after the Little Tennessee River. Originally “Tanasi” the river took its name from two Cherokee villages on its banks. It’s nickname “The Volunteer State” was earned, during the War of 1812, when thousands of Tennesseans enlisted in response to Governor Blount’s call for volunteers. Music is one tradition and attraction. Memphis holds the title “Birthplace of the Blues” and Nashville “Country Music Capital of the World” with no less than eleven official state songs. Other state symbols: wildflower - Passion Flower, cultivated flower - Iris, and a mocking bird is standing among the bluettes.

Our love for Baltimore Album Quilts made during the 1800's was the inspiration for our American Album Blocks. Each realistic album style block is filled with flowers, birds and a little American History. Each pattern includes full size numbered pattern with detailed embroidery instructions and Pearl's Easy Applique Techniques. Join us as we travel across America block by block and state by state.

Finished block size 15in.
